GA How Many Reasons

Georgia is facing a worse than expected budget shortfall and legislators continue to consider cuts to vital public health programs and services. The legislature can, however, solve some of their budget woes by increasing the tobacco tax by $1 or more. Plain and simple: there is NO reason not to!

This increase will help save critical programs and services, save kids from addiction to tobacco and encourage current smokers to quit. Three significant benefits for Georgia that Philip Morris and the other big tobacco companies find unacceptable. And they are fighting back with money and influence to make sure Georgians keep on smoking. That's why it is so important that your representatives hear from you today!

Speak out and tell your representative to support a tobacco tax increase in Georgia...and then ask your friends to do the same. Every child we can prevent from smoking is a reason. Every dollar we can raise to save critical programs is a reason. How many more reasons do we need? Act today.
