Just 10 more years..

My father passed away 8 months ago due to complications that he suffered after being diagnosed with lung cancer.
Weeks after he passed, I read a journal that he'd left behind for me. One of the passages was titled, " If you could have any wish in the world, what would it be?" My father asked for 10 more years of life, so that he could live to see me grow into my career, and to also experience the joy that grandkids would have brought him. Unfortunately, my Father will never live to experience those indescribably joys. Tobacco robbed my father of the rest of the life he had to live. Unfortunately, during his era of growing up, the public was never warned about the long term effects that smoking produces. Our generation now has the knowledge and the power to put a stop to the tobacco thief. We need to continue passing on the tools to our children so they can live ALL their life. For those of you who are educated, but still continue to abuse tobacco, the choice is laid out in front of you and is ultimately yours. Go ahead, enjoy and savor the pleasure that tobacco gives you in the here and now. The time that it takes away from your life can never be given back. In memory of my Father, who took the initiative to quit after he realized what it would do. I'm sure it gave him so much more than we ever expected.
